  • A symbol is something used to
    represent a person, place, thing, or
    idea.
  • Where can we find symbols?  
    (Maps, Flags, Signs ect...)
  • Read about the American Flag.  
    Talk with children about the
    meaning of the different colors, and
    the stars and stripes
  • Where in the bible can we find
    symbolism?  (lamb, washing sin,
    white is clean ect....)
  • How can we represent God and his
    love for all mankind?  How can we
    be a good symbol?

Step 1
Cut out a variety of shapes for children to
sheets of paper available for them to cut
their own.
All Done!
Help them write in the different meanings of
the symbols on their flag and display them
proudly in the classroom.
Step 2
Using a glue stick, let them arrange the
shapes on their sheet to make a design.
Step 3
When they are finished ask them about their
flag.  What do the colors and the shapes
represent?  Why is that important to you?
