end. Then fold over.
Step 6
Fold up your band so that the
feathers stay glued inside.
Step 7
Cut out some decorative shapes.
Think of symbols that were used, or
make up your own.
Step 8
If you make some geometric shapes
you can make patterns on the band.
You can even use the scraps from

Glue your shapes to your band.
Step 10
Research different feather markings,
or make up a few of your own.
Have one for bravery, loyalty,
kindness...ect...
Step 11
Add your markings to your feathers.
You can do this beforehand too, or
you can change students feathers
throughout the week as a reward.
Step 12
Fit the band to your head and staple
or glue together.
Wear your
headdress during the
rest of your lesson!
Step 5
Open the fold of your headband, lay

  • Read about the Sioux tribes, and the
    different markings on the feathers.
  • Talk with children about the purpose
of the markings, and the levels of
    honor they represent.
  • Read Matthew 5:12, and talk with
children about the crowns God will
reward us with.  Be careful to explain
    that we don't receive salvation
    because of our good works,
salvation is a gift.  Here are some
more verses to read:  Revelation 3:
