This shiny sun makes a great classroom decoration, and provides some fun demonstrations as well! Children love to hold the sun while you hold a globe and "revolve" and "rotate" your way around them!
Step 1 Choose the colors you'll be using for your sun. I picked gold, shiny yellow, and light yellow.
Step 2 Stack up the colors alternating them as you like. 10 sheets works out about right.
Hang up your sun and enjoy the beautiful day! This makes a fantastic classroom decoration, and children can make little mini-suns to take home with them!
Step 3 Fold the sheets up accordion style. (Like your making a paper fan)
| The Sun The sun brings heat, warmth, and energy to the Earth. What is the sun made of? How big is it? How far away? Read and find out! Franklyn M. | Step 4 Use your pipe cleaner to tie a knot around the middle of the papers. Make a little loop if you like to make hanging it up easier. |
Step 5 Fan out the sides so that it looks like a little girls hair bow.
Step 6 Start to pull apart and fluff each layer of paper by separating them.
Step 7 For each side, gather the papers at the top to form a peak. Turn over and repeat with the bottom as well.
Step 8 The Pipe cleaner is in the middle, and we're looking down on the top peaks. They are stapled together at both the tops and the bottoms. (but we only see the tops :)
Step 9 Take both of the stapled tops and bring them together. Staple again.
Step 10 Tie a piece of fishing line or dental floss to the pipe cleaner. Make sure that the string is outside of the ball, then repeat Step 9 with the bottom peaks.
Step 11 You should now have a ball shape. Fluff out the paper to cover any gaps.
