Curriculum
1st Grade Language Arts
My Personal Review:
There are many different levels in the "A Reason for...." series.  I chose the Transition level
because not only are there lessons in basic handwriting, but also in cursive as well.  In fact
Cursive Handwriting.  I think it's the perfect level for any child who knows all the letters and
just needs to fine tune their legibility and placement of letters.
 You can check out sample
lessons here.
I picked up this Complete Curriculum (in Worksheets) last year for our KG year.  I've used it
intermittenly throughout the year when I needed a specific worksheet for what I was teaching
on.  There are something like 600 pages all in Full Color, including an End of the Year test in
the back!  I love this book because whenever I notice that "Oops, we forgot to go over what
Proper Nouns are" then I can find the right worksheet and squeeze it in for the days lesson!
We went through about half of the worksheets last year, so I plan on using up the reamining
ones which are mostly on Grammar this year.

My Personal Review:
Spelling is one of the "tougher" issues in our house, not only because my children dread
learning it, but because I dread teaching it as well.  I snagged this title because it has daily
spelling activities already listed for me (hence no more stress on my end) and because the
different activities are sure to at least lighten the heavy reputation spelling has received
around here!  I'm going to update this post a bit more once we're halfway through and let you
