these notebooking printables to go alonside some of the individual History stories my children
will be reading.  This is a great set to use when you've got a week to explore your book.

Notebooking Living Books Daily Guide
This is a simple day by day guide for children to use on
their own.  For each Day 1-5 children are given
instructions on what steps to complete.  This is a great
way to encourage children to take responsibility of
completing their work on their own.  All of the
worksheets mentioned in the guide are listed below
Day 1: Read, Reader Response
Read the assigned chapter or book.  Complete the
Reader Response worksheet.

Reader Response Worksheet
This notebooking page includes promts to begin basic
note taking for the assigned text.  Children record the
title, author or chapter, make a list of characters, new
words, a copywork passage, and basic notes on the
storyline.
Day 2: Read or Listen, Story Order Sheet
Re-read the assigned chapter, or listed to the audio
version if you have it. This time pay careful attention to
the story order.  Complete the Story Order Sheet with
illustrations.

This notebooking page includes three illustration boxes
alonside lined notebook paper.  Children can make a list
of the key events that happened in their story.
Day 3: Scan, Note Facts
Scan the assigned chapter and search for key facts.  
Keep track of these facts on your Finding Facts Sheet.

Finding Facts Sheet
This notebooking page is a simple lined paper for
children to note any important facts.  This would
include dates, times, locations and other story setting
information. Older children might use this sheet to add
facts to their story order notes.
Day 4: Scan, Summarize Story
By now you should hav e a good idea of the story.  
Write a complete summary on your Summarize Sheet.
 Be sure to put events in the correct order.  Include
your key facts and revisit your text if needed.

A final notebook sheet for children to include a refined
illustration above a complete summary of the story.  
Blank sheets are available if more room is needed.
Day 5: Self Quiz Questions
Use your facts to come up with five self-quiz questions.  
Write each question and answer on the strip.  These will
be used during review.

This notebooking page includes five question answer
strips.  Children can come up with their own questions
based on what they have learned.  Use these for review.
 You could even cut them out and use in a
file folder
game or jeopardy type game at the end of your unit.
