My First Capris

When I was in High School, and Capris started coming back into style, I was very “I’m never going to wear those crazy pants”

Preferring of course, my LEI flairs, or my MUDD Bellbottoms

Some of you know what I’m talking about, LOL.

Anyway, it’s like 10 years later and I have to admit that I’ve got an entire drawer full of capris. In fact, I’m wearing a pair of Maternity Capris as we speak, and they’re quite comfy….and fashionable if I do say so…..

So when I saw this pattern for a pair of little girls Capris, I just had to give them a try.

They turned out a bit WIDE for Sissy, I think if I make another pair, I’ll definitely make the legs a bit skinnier. The pattern also allows you to choose from three different ways to finish off the bottom. I chose the version with the spit up the side. It took a minute to figure it out, but I think it turned out really cute.

The front of the shirt has a different color on the top, with “Speghetti” straps that tie in a bow. Now, normally I don’t “Digg” the skinny straps for Sissy, so I think next time I’ll try to make a thicker band, and maybe use a snap closure instead. The bows are really cute though :)

Of course….yet AGAIN

I had to lengthen the shirt. Not only did I add an extra inch to the actual pattern itself, but after sewing it and trying it on, I realized that I was going to have to add a layer of ruffles as well. It makes the shirt very extra girly (So Sissy is fantastically happy!)

And the back has a tie as well.
(This thing is covered in ruffles and bows isn’t it)

All in all I enjoyed this pattern, it was actually quite simple, and now that I know what alterations I would make, I think this one is going into the “Keeper” pile for future use!

I’ll be spending most of my free time this week making Bibs and Burp Cloths….I can’t wait to get started!
