He’s Here!

July 3, 2009

Ladies and Gentleman, please welcome to the stage……

“Monkey”

Born June 26th, 2009.

(10 days before our due date)

7lbs 15 ounces.

(I shudder to think how big he would have been if he came on time….or even late like my other two)

He’s officially 1 week old tomorrow……I can’t believe it!

I actually beat the butterflies!

Here is a quick version of our birth story……with a few details you could probably care less about :)

(Friday Night)

1. Got Pregnancy Photos Taken (phew, lucky right?)

2. Emailed entire family that baby would be here in 2 weeks

3. Set up Church meals to come in 2 weeks.

4. Water Breaks immediately after I hit send.

5. Freak Out.

6. Call Husband (who is at work)

7. Husband doesn’t answer.

8. Freak Out.

9. Become Hitler and start barking orders to my children to pack.

10. Call Family (who is at least 2 hours away) to come soon.

11. Begin to Pack my own bag.

12. Silently cursing myself for not being ready.

13. Call Doctor, but it’s Friday Night…..and I keep getting a recording.

14. Listen to the Recording….I can’t even figure out what it’s saying.

15. Listen 5 more times till I realize it’s not going to help me.

16. Call Hospital.

17. Husband calls back. He’s getting off work.

18. Call my Emergency Back-up to watch the kids.

19. Finish packing…..all I’ve got so far is a bag of Q-Tips.

20. Freak Out.

21. Load up the kids.

22. Drive myself to the Hospital. (9:30pm)

23. Freaking Out the entire way….Lord please don’t let me give birth in my car.

24. Meet-up with my friend and she takes the kids.

25. Check into the hospital.

26. Dr. comes and looks. Says he thinks my water broke. But it’s not testing right.

27. Husband shows up. (phew)

28. Admitted to the Hospital.

29. Only small contractions, nothing painful.

30. Told to get some rest we’ll check in the morning.

Saturday

1. Woke up (every hour as they check my status)

2. Ate hospital crackers and yogurt.

3. No significant changes, or contractions.

4. Dr. tells me I might have been mistaken….maybe it wasn’t my water breaking.

5. I of course……Argue…..it was water I say…I’m not mistaken.

6. Says we should go home to wait and see.

7. I say, but 24 hours after water breaking is risk for infection.

8. He says yes, but you can come back when there are heavy contractions.

9. I of course……Argue again…. (I’m soooo not going home to worry about infections)

10. I request an ultrasound to see if the water is broken. I’m convinced it was my water.

11. Dr. does and ultrasound.

12. Dr. changes his mind. It was my water. We’re going to induce.

13. I’m hooked up to pitocin.

14. Dr breaks remaining waters.

15. Oh, the pain. Immediate pain.

16. In come my favorite people.

17. And the pain is gone.

18. 3 hours of labor…(if you can even call it that, being so painless)

19. 9 minutes of pushing. (yeah, 9 minutes, I rock)

20. Baby Boy McClintick enters the world!

He looked a little something like this….minus the clothes :)

And I just wanted to thank everyone for their heartfelt support! It means so much to us that were being wrapped in a big ole’ blanket of prayer.

I hope to be able to respond to emails soon, but for now I’m just going to sit around and smell him.

New Babies just smell so delicious don’t they?

OMG, HAHAHAHHAHAHA! I’m sure it wasn’t funny at the time, but your recount of it is hilarious! In fact, this is the first time I read your blog–I get notices occasionally from Lapbook Lessons. As I have three glorious children of my own, I’m always excited to hear about the birth of someone elses.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! God bless your family!
