I think your oven is the problem, not your recipes! Try using a higher rack in your oven! And lowering your oven temp.

Oh my gosh I was just like you up until a couple weeks ago. I'd tried every cookie recipe I came across!! Every single batch turned out like CRAP and I was so heartbroken over it. I know that sounds crazy but how could someone mess up every batch of cookies they ever made?!?!

Well, luckily my crappy cookie streak is OVER forever!! I found a recipe on a blog and though it was somewhat similar to every other cookie recipe I tried the pictures are the blog were enough to get me to attempt ONE MORE TIME, making cookies.

And I'm SO GLAD I did and I can honestly tell you to TRY THESE ONES!! They turned out perfect! My husband was BLOWN away. He said they were the best cookies he's ever tried!
The recipe is on my blog, here:
http://www.mysweetchaos.com/2009/08/chocolate-chip-cookies.html
it's not my recipe, but I could not find the original site I found it at, as hard as I tried!! I wish I could find that site and use more of her recipes!! :(

I rarely suggest recipes, but these are so freaking easy and delicious I couldn't not tell you :)
GOOD LUCK!

Ha Ha,

The ones in the photo are from the Betty Crocker Dry mix stuff in the baking aisle

That's when I knew I had to post about it, I have serious issues here!

I love all the advice, I'm going to try them out one at a time!

one tip I can offer is to mix your cookie batter by hand. If you overmix the batter your cookies tend to come out cake-like. Second tip, take your cookies out before they look done. Cookies still cook once you've removed them from the oven.
Hope these tips help you out.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble since I enjoy your notes so much and your very cute ideas. So to say thank you (Lol) I'll share my chocolate chip cookies with you.

Good Ol' Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup shortening (butter flavored is good but not a must)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 c white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream these together.

In a separate bowl stir the following together:
2 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Slowly add the flour mixture to the creamy mixture above. Mix thoroughly. Add chocolate chips to your liking!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees & grease cookie sheet (I like the air bake if you have one, which it sounds like you do.)

Spoon cookies onto pan and bake for 10-12 minutes.
(Note: I like using an ice cream scoop to scoop them out)

I wish you the best and know he'll love the effort too.

If you give them a try, I'd love to hear how it goes!

Blessings!

Sorry but I had to laugh when I saw the picture. Hey, my almost two
year old was able to identify what they were. He he.

These Peanut butter cookies are to die for! They turn out the same
every time!
Give it a go!
My hubby thinks I could sell these.

1/2 Cup crunchy style peanutbutter
3/4 cup shortening (butter flavored Crisco)
1/2 Firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 package chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven 375 degrees
Mix together in medium bowl, peanut butter, shortening,
brown sugar, white sugar egg and vanilla. Beat thoroughly
with a mixer.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add to creamed mixture, blend well with spatula.
Fold in chocolate chips.

Bake 10-15 mins. Let stand 2 mins before moving to cooling rack.

If you an use a baking stone you will get the best results.
I have used this recipe on a regular cookie sheet and they were
good too.
Perhaps it is the kind of pan you are using.
I'd love to hear how they turn out!

Ya need to try cake mix cookies. EASY. I mean, really easy!!! Pick your favorite flavor of cake mix, add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup oil. Mix. will be a very stiff dough.

Roll into 1" balls and roll around in plain white sugar. Flatten with the bottom of a glass.

Bake in 350 oven for about 10 minutes. They'll be puffy but will settle down. Let sit on the tray for about 1 minute before trying to move to cooling rack to cool.

We do chocolate, vanilla (and decorate), lemon, carrot cake, I mean seriously, you cannot destroy these cookies (well save baking them for an hour! LOL).

Also...do you have a thermometer in your oven to confirm temp. Your issue looks like the bottom burns but the top is barely cooked...is that true? Your oven temp might be fluctuating.

(((HUGS))) YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
