I’ve done this before as a present for one of my nephews. Instead of buying the blocks, I got a 2×2 at the hardware store for really cheap then had my husband cut it into 2in. cubes with the miter saw, and sanded them. A little more work, but really cheap and it makes a lot!

I love your idea. I did something similar but with word families, I
have special ed K class. each dice had a word family, like cat, hat, mat
sat, rat, bat, on each side. It became a mixed lesson. student would roll each
dice read the word spell it and then tally how many times we would roll that
word. Then we would graph our results. so we practiced spelling word families
and did some graphing. I made about 10 different dice with 10 different word
families.

Where did you find the blank wood blocks. Love this idea I can already see lots of fun with this for my little guy.

These are great! Love them! You could probably even add a set of
endings (-ing, -ed, -ly) for the older kids and talk about those kinds
of words.

That is SO absolutely awesome! I belong to a preschool thru 1st/2nd grade homeschool co-op that meets every other month to exchange learning games we’ve made, or craft kits, etc. We just met last night, but for the first time, I already know what I’ll be making for the next one – in two months! This is perfect!
