I just LOVE Homeschool Shopping.

And I REALLY LOVE when I find things for a bargain.

But then of course…..

(since it’s such a great deal)

I purchase more then I need.

(Really….you’d think I ran a Zoo over here)

I’m implusive like that.

Bad for me….but Good for You, because this week I’ll be participating in the Curriculum Clean Out!

Photobucket

The Curriculum Clean Out is a Blog Carnival for everyone else out there like me who has extra Homeschool stuff lying around, stuff that:

“We will someday, possibly down the road, in the next seven years, put to good use.”

In reality it sits in the back shelf of a closet never to be seen again.

(But we’re somehow comforted by the fact that IF we ever DID learn about Mollusks native to Europe we have just the right creatures tucked away)

I’m kidding…..There are no LIVING creatures in my closets….

Anymore.

But anyway, I thought I was the only one with an overabundance of Homeschooling materials that are perfectly useable, but just didn’t fit our Family Teaching style.

Apparently there are others out there with the same exact problems blessings as me:

Too much Homschool Stuff.

(Enter: Curriculum Clean Out) props to Jolanthe

And we all have clean closets again.

(Sort of…..You know that is, if we don’t WIN anything from someone else’s closet)

But moving along to what I have to give this year:

This week I made paper plate shakers with my 2-year-old granddaughter. She enjoyed putting on stickers and then dancing with the shakers. My kindergarten class enjoys making lapbooks. They would really like adding some pop-ups.

I am just getting into the whole lap booking craze, but this pop-up book looks like fun for my 4th and 1st graders.

Our craft this year, was sock dresses for naked Barbies. They’re easy, fun and you can be very creative and most of all you cloth those naked Barbies. You basically find a sock and either cut a whole in the toe and sides, or you can put them upside down for a tube sock, sock dress. I basically gave them the idea and my girls went to town. My favorite look was the one with a lace top and they put two arm wholes on both sides, under the lace, and voila (of course, you know those Barbie’s they look good in anything :))

This looks like so much fun! Thanks for the give away. My son is almost three, and we’ve just started writing down some of his stories together in a journal, so he is making his way up to this. A craft we did this week was a make your own board game – just a simple road made out of do-a-dot stamps, and a few foam stickers strategically placed, with things like “you got stung by a bee, go back one circle” or “the spider helps you ahead two spots,” etc. I think we’ll have to make more homemade board games in our future, because it was a hit.

  • Terry says:

I would love to win! We did many crafts over the summer, one of my favorite was when my kids got into my “extra” wood pieces box (various little wood items from Michaels) and I got out the hot glue and they showed me how they wanted to fit their pieces together and I glued them. Then we got out the paint and they went to town painting their crazy creations. It was really fun!

With a lot of help, my son made a cross stitch bookmark for Grandma this summer. He loves to watch me and sometimes help me with my cross stitch. We also cut out a lot of dinosaurs, volcanos, and trees for his dinosaur lapbooks this last summer.
We are still fairly new to lapbooking. I don’t know how to make a pop up so, this giveaway would be educational not only to my son but, also me. I just found your site but, I plan on adding it to my favorites list!

  • We’re just starting out into the homeschooling realm. My nearly five year old would love this! He’s quite the little artist. I just recently started following you. It’s been so helpful!

My kids did some painting this summer. We took all the supplies outside on a nice sunny day and they painted as long as they wanted to. We kept the supplies outside for a couple of weeks and any time they wanted to paint, they could pick up right where they left off. Thay also used sidewalk chalk quite a bit. :)

  • Cynthia says:

We did a lot of painting and mini sculptures:)

We did some classics- like peanut butter play doh and painting on giant sheets of paper (to be used as xmas wrapping paper) and tried a few new things like I taught my 7 yr old how to spray paint and he transformed several frames, the soap bottle, a recycled box that will be a pen holder xmas gift.

We also had a couple of flops- i wanted the kids to make some thank you cards to keep on hand and had them glue those tiny melty beads on them thinking they would look neat and mosaic-y. ugh! trash! And we made the peanut butter play doh with nutella and dry milk (that was me trying to up the nutritional content just a smidge)- the kids did not like it.

  • Tina says:

Wow! That’s a great idea! I have been looking for new and interesting ways to get my boys to write!

learned the story about Jesus healing the blind man putting mud mixed with spittle on the blind man’s eyes – so we made our own mud AND ATE IT!! OK…not quite “mud” but made dark chocolate pudding which made a very realistic “mud” – it even smelled nice!!!;-) The children loved it!
